This amazing little bit of kit might just be one of our most successful vanlife purchases ever. The Anker PowerDrive 2 Alloy Flush Fit Car Adapter is currently a snip at £7.19. It works so well and super stylish too – as much as a USB charger can be, anyway.
Fitted with a scratch resistant metal alloy band
I totally get it – there are so many similar products at a similar price point that it’s difficult to know where to look (hence why I’ve created this post), but the Powerdrive 2’s features really make it stand out. Firstly, it feels substantial. It’s fitted with a scratch resistant metal alloy band, which sits smartly around the top of the device. This gives it tremendous weight and feel. It looks great and more importantly feels like it’s built to last.
Once installed, it only protrudes about 0.5cm from the fascia. This means it doesn’t obstruct or get caught on anything else, in fact, you barely notice it’s there. It also uses premium gold-plated contact points, which means it generates less heat resulting in fast and more efficient power transfer. In my experience it always stays pleasantly cool.
PowerIQ 2.0 technology
If you’ve ever used Anker, you’ll know that they offer leading products in a very crowded, high-quality marketplace. Our charger utilises Anker’s PowerIQ 2.0 technology which offers superior ability to charge items as fast as possible. We’ve bought a few Anker products over the past few years as they’re so damned good and never disappoint. The best example of this being our experience with an Anker vs Bose bluetooth speaker.
The charger can accommodate two standard USB-A sockets
This means you can always have two phones fully charged, when battery heavy navigation or multitasking is required. PowerIQ though, will automatically divide and select the best power source to charge your devices. It can offer a combined 24w source, which means it could be used with cars or motorhomes/trucks. It will also ramp up the amperage required for your connected device to ensure it can charge as quickly as possible. It works so well, no fuss, just connect and let it get on. As an example, we can charge Dave’s new iPhone 11 (he’s a flash git) from nearly empty to fully charged in just about two hours, which is really fantastic for a mobile power source.
It also fits super snug and doesn’t pop out of its own accord – something which really bugs me about most USB chargers. So, if you’re looking for something to keep you charged up and ready, when you’re on the road, or maybe just looking for a spark, then for this price, you can’t go wrong with an Anker PowerDrive 2 Alloy Flush Fit Car Adapter, whether it’s for your car, campervan, RV, caravan or motorhome!
P.S. We’ll be reviewing the Anker SoundCore 24-Hour Playtime Bluetooth Speaker, in early 2021, so so look out for this product if you’re interested in more Anker product reviews.
