Best Handheld Vacuum Cleaners For Campervan Motorhome RV

‘Never work with animals or children’

Or if you do – have a good vacuum cleaner handy!

I think we can all say with some degree of certainty, whether we are either:

  1. A tidy, ordered, meticulously well planned and presentable person who takes pride in their appearance and their home.
  2. A dirty, disorganised mess. (Don’t watch if you are squeamish about dirt – especially the bathroom!

Maybe you can guess which one I am?!

Clean freak or freaking dirty?

On this particular topic, Dave and I are not in complete harmony. But my fascination with minimalism (which kick-started this whole wonderful new life), has freed us of the need for ‘stuff’. We now regard a lack of space, not as an annoyance, but as a design puzzle which will make our lives better to solve.

What we have discovered, since my first declutter in 2017, and since moving into our new tiny home 12 months ago, is that less really is more – so why not try yourself:

  1. Use it or lose it
  2. One year rule
  3. One in – one out

That’s all you need to know!

This attitude has become the gateway to our conscious understanding of the world and how we can fit into it and it has completely changed what I want now – the vanlife.

Dog + Dave + me + tiny home = constant cleaning requirement

One of the other things that you do really start to appreciate though, is cleanliness – we always make sure we have tidy desks, dishes done, and no one leaves the seat up (the dog is also well trained 😉). We aren’t immune to untidiness, but our living arrangements really magnify the mess and dirt, especially with a dog that is full of energy and that loves exploring, playing and long wet walks. With three of us, there’s a lot of living being done in a small place. you do have to be disciplined about dirt – we have developed a cleaning habit.

As I mentioned in a previous post, if you are working where you sleep, eat, watch TV and travel, you have to be comfortable and happy in that space – it’s your home.

With that in mind, I’m going to run down the top 5 handheld vacuum cleaners for use in your campervan, motorhome or RV. Handheld vacuum cleaners are ideal for van life – small, yet still packing plenty of punch to leave Irene looking sharp and clean.

In the end, for us the eufy by Anker Homevac won out in the end. I loved the fact that it could stay out even when travelling, because it is just so light and small. It has a small volume, but that’s all we have ever needed and is so easy to empty and clean that I often do it after each use. A really handy but simple addition is the ability to charge from a USB attachment – no need to use up a valuable 3 pin slot. For this reason it was so easy to charge and keep charged at all times – something most of the other handheld options we looked at struggled with.

This was our standout choice – a stylish, simple, light, and versatile option from a manufacturer we trusted for its durability and design. It is effective enough for what we need, and small and light enough to ensure we have it handy all the time, ensuring vanlife remains clean, tidy and mercifully no dog hair – there’s enough for a winter blanket here!

Everybody has different needs, but if you’re looking for handheld vacuum cleaner for your campervan, motorhome or RV any of these will do. And they’re ideal for vanlife – small but perfectly formed and packing plenty of punch…
